Dressage Rules

We follow WDAA rules for Western Dressage, available at WesternDressageAssociation.org under Education Center. Exception is that helmets must be worn by all riders at all venues.

DLSC follows USEF rules for Dressage. These rules are available for download on the USEF.org website (see Rules and Regulations for link) for Dressage

ASTM helmets must be worn when mounted. No exceptions.

Accumulating Points for Year End Awards:
To be eligible for year-end awards, the same horse and rider combination must accumulate points at a minimum of four Dressage shows, competing at the same level. The highest score received in each level you show will be recorded by the DLSC show organizers. Highest score from your best 4 shows will be averaged for final percentage score. (If you show 5 shows we drop your lowest score).

Professional riders are eligible to show in Intro level classes at shows but will be ineligible to win year end awards at those levels.

Note: Rider/Horse combination that wins Year End Division Championship is ineligible to win that title the following year (though they may compete and place in the same division).  Competitors in the Percentage, Western Level 1+, or USEA Eventing divisions may be eligible consecutive years if they have moved up a level within that division (ie: showing 2nd level, Level 1 Western, or Beginner novice in one year, then moving up to 3rd level, Level 2, or Novice the following could result in a pair winning a division championship 2 years in a row).
